The Interlibrary loan (ILL) process lets LBCC students and staff obtain materials that are not available in the LBCC Library. Linn and Benton County residents with LBCC Library privileges may also place interlibrary loan requests.
If you are looking for a journal article, make sure that EBSCOhost's Periodical Databases does not contain the journal article you need. If it doesn't, follow the instructions provided in the form Journal Request. For other materials, make sure that the LBCC Online Catalog does not contain the library material you need. If it doesn't, follow the instructions provided in the form Book Request.
Once you make a request, our staff will try to find a library that will lend you the material you requested at no charge. Once found, the lending library sends us the material and we let you know as soon as it arrives.
Libraries will generally lend books from their collections and will send photocopies of articles from journals, magazines and newspapers. Libraries will usually not lend reference materials, or whole issues of journals, magazines or newspapers.
Requests generally take 1-2 weeks. Uncommon items may take longer.
If you can't wait, you may want take a trip to one of the local libraries. The following links will tell you if they have the material you want: the OSU Valley Library, the Corvallis / Benton County Public Library, or the Albany Public Library. It is also possible a full-text version of a journal article is available through EBSCOhost.
You will be contacted by email, phone, and/or regular mail.
Items can be picked up and returned at the Circulation Desk.
Each lending library puts its own due date on items that need to be returned. Two weeks is a common loan period for Interlibrary loan items. Renewal may or may not be possible.
Students currently enrolled in a Distance Learning course may request that items be mailed to them if they are unable to come to the Library. By requesting mail service, you become responsible for any borrowed items; should it be lost in transit in either direction, you will be charged for replacement and processing. You are also responsible for the return postage.
